The Betrayal Read online

“I knew he had to have this one,” she whispered, laughing at herself for whispering with no one around.

With one last foray about the room, she walked out, closing the door behind her and heading back up to her room. She arrived at the door to her room and stopped before going in, wondering what Owyn looked like when he slept. Curious as to why she felt that way, she mentally shook it off and told herself to go in her room, lay down, and read.

“Just open the door,” she whispered, but her hand didn’t move from where it rested on the doorknob.

Sighing in frustration and knowing it to be a stupid idea, Elsa headed for Owyn’s room. She stopped at his door and grabbed the handle, turning it and pushing the door open. She peeked into the bedroom, the fire in the fireplace illuminating the room.

Elsa looked around the room, searching for Owyn and finding him asleep in the bed in the center of the room. He had rolled over to his side facing away from the door so all she could see was the back of his head and shoulders.

She crept into the room and headed for the bed, not really thinking now. Staring down at Owyn while he slept, she took in his features, so relaxed as he slept.

“So handsome,” she whispered, the sound ending up louder than she had intended.

She clasped her hand over her mouth when Owyn shifted onto his back, revealing his chest to her. It was devoid of any hair and it was muscular, making her want to touch it. The tan of his face extended to what she could see of his body.

She let her eyes wander and followed the path to his waist, looking farther and noticing a small line of hair sticking out from the bottom of the sheet, knowing that it was his nether regions that she had handled the night of their encounter.

Even more curious now, she had to physically grab her arm to prevent it from reaching out to touch his body. She had never been like this before and had never wanted a man with such enthusiasm. She was almost afraid of herself because of it.

She took a step back, away from the bed, and decided to exit the room quickly. With one last look at Owyn, she headed towards the door and walked out, shutting the door behind her.

“That was close,” she whispered to herself.

Her stomach dropped when she felt the doorknob turn that she was holding still in her hand. Panicked, she grabbed the door handle and held onto it, preventing Owyn from turning it. Taking a breath, she let go of the handle and took off running, rounding a corner before he could get the door completely open.

With her chest heaving and out of breath, Elsa hid around the corner until she heard the door click shut. Relieved, she headed down the hallway to her room, slipping into the room and closing the door behind her, making sure to lock it.

With disappointment and no small amount of panic, she realized that she had left her book of poetry in Owyn’s room, having put the book down when she restrained herself from touching him. Knowing he would find the book and wonder how it got there, and that she would never sleep knowing that, she opened her door once again and headed back down the hallway.

She stopped around the corner and peeked down the hallway in front of his room, checking to make sure that there wasn’t anyone out there to interrupt her plans. She walked down the hall and back to Owyn’s door, opening it just a crack to check where he was.

Thankfully, he was back in bed and she spotted the book on his nightstand right where she had left it.

She slowly crept into the room and walked towards the bed. When she reached over to grab the book, she felt a hand grab her arm and she was so startled she almost screamed.

“What are you doing in here?” he said, sitting up, the sheet falling to his waist. “I know you were in here before. I saw you before you got around the corner.”

Elsa looked down at Owyn and blushed a deep red.

  “I… I…,” she stammered.

Owyn looked at her curiously. “Are you all right?” he asked.

  She nodded her head.

“Then why did you sneak into my room?” He looked at the nightstand next to him. “To leave me a book? It is one of my favorites, but I wasn’t planning on reading it anytime soon.”

  She rolled her eyes.

“I thought you might want to read it and I am very impatient so I thought I would leave it here for you, but then I decided to come back for it. I wanted to read it instead.”

Owyn laughed, knowing full well that was not the reason she had come in here, but he was willing to humor her.

“Well,” he said, scooting over in the bed and pulling her down beside him, “Let’s read it together. I am awake now, and need something to soothe me back to sleep.”

Elsa rolled her eyes at him once again, but pulled the book off the nightstand and opened it to the first page. Owyn reached over and pulled the book from her hands, opening the book to a random page and then giving it back to her.

“I find that if you read it from the first page, you never get to the end. I open it from a random page and that way I am pleasantly surprised when I read a poem I have read before but haven’t seen in ages.”

The smile on his face was irresistible and infectious, so a smile came across her face as well.

“I understand completely, My Lord,” she said, scooting close enough for him to put his arm around her shoulders.

Elsa started to read and snuggled deeper into Owyn’s embrace, not even noticing a little while later that he had fallen asleep resting his head on hers.

Instead of getting up and going to her room, she snuggled even deeper into him and put the book down, content not to leave the room.

For shame, Elsa. You should get up and leave this moment.

In a minute, Mother. That last thought made her chuckle before she fell asleep.

Owyn awoke with a sigh, unable to tell what time it was. He tried to turn to roll out of bed, but he was stopped by something weighing down his other arm. He looked over and almost couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw Elsa laying there, her nightgown bunched tightly under one side of her so her entire figure was on display for him.

He groaned as the erection he had got harder, making him want her so much he couldn’t resist any longer. Slowly he slid back down into his bed, keeping the covers over the naked half of him and gathering her into his arms. He carefully pushed the hair out of her face and leaned down, kissing her softly at first, then applying a bit more pressure.

Elsa whimpered softly when he pulled away, but sighed in contentment when his lips came back harder this time, this kiss one of need and wanting. His arms came around her body and he touched every bit of her he could reach, cursing the nightgown she wore in his head.

With a groan, he pulled the nightgown slowly up her body until it bunched up around her waist, Elsa’s gasp and simultaneous groan telling him she was enjoying herself.

“Owyn…” she whispered, arching into his hand as he slipped a finger into her wetness, the warmth of her body almost driving him crazy with need.

“Elsa, wake up, my love,” he whispered, feathering kisses across her face and hair, wanting to see her eyes glazed with sleep and desire as they looked at him.

She opened her eyes slowly and he growled harshly as he received exactly the look from her that he wanted.

“Elsa,” Owyn whispered, “I am going to make love to you. If you tell me to stop, I will and leave you untouched.”

Elsa sighed and shook off the sleep in her eyes, putting her hand on his lips and whispering, “I don’t want to remain untouched. I want you to touch me, Owyn, and I want you to do it right now.”

Owyn pressed a kiss to her lips and whispered, “Thank you,” before pressing another, harder kiss to her lips.

He teased her lips open with his tongue to meld and play with hers. Elsa groaned as his lips invaded her mouth to take her tongue, his fingers invading her body at the same time. She gasped softly as her desire built and Owyn fanned the flames, the fire burning beneath her skin.

Owyn pulled her nightgown up and over her head, r
evealing to him her body that he had dreamed about so often. Her breasts were round and perfect with dusty rose nipples and they were not too big and not too small, exciting him.

They were even better than his dreams.

He took one nipple into his mouth and suckled it like a baby, shooting sparks of electric thrill through her, curling her toes. He let go of her nipple and she sighed, almost relieved that the tension inside her had stopped pulling so tight until he took the other nipple in his mouth and teased, the pleasure becoming almost too much for Elsa to bear.

She reached for him and pulled him closer to her, divesting him of the sheet that had covered his body from her gaze. Elsa’s eyes drank in the sight of his naked body. From the muscular torso to his strong legs, and very impressive erection.

Her small hands found his hard erection and moved on it just like he had shown her, Owyn becoming incapacitated as she stroked him.

Her soft fingers slipped over his body like satin, teasing his need higher and higher. He buried his head in her neck and let the desire inside him flow, not wanting to control it anymore.

He was hard and she was wet, and he was more than ready to make her his.

“Are you ready for this?” he whispered, settling in between her bare legs.

Elsa almost hesitated, but she nodded and whispered, “I am.”

Owyn slowly pressed into her body, her passage so tight and warm.

He reached down between them and tortured her hidden nub, watching her as she climaxed.

Elsa felt the burst of fire and arched up against Owyn, pushing him a little deeper into her.

When Owyn felt her body relax, he drove into her body, breaking past the last barrier to keep her from being his.

Elsa cried out and Owyn held her tightly, not moving at all.

He kissed her cheeks and her lips and whispered nonsense in her ear, trying to make sure that she was all right.

Elsa took his hand in hers and kissed him deeply.

“Please don’t tell me that is all there is,” she whispered.

  Owyn’s face instantly changed.

“My Lady, we are just beginning.”

With one last kiss, he started to move, slowly at first, then picking up a rhythm as Elsa started to wriggle beneath him. She arched her back and ran her hands all over him, pressing him deeper into her by pressing her hips up and grabbing his buttocks.

With a growl, he grabbed her legs and pulled them over his shoulders, the angle pushing him even deeper inside her body. Elsa cried out at the sweet agony of him being deeper inside her and grabbed the sheets on the bed next to her, holding on as he thrust roughly against her.

To her disappointment, Owyn slowed down his pace, eventually stopping and pulling out of her. She looked down between them and saw his body, still very hard and ready for more.

“What are you doing?” she asked.

He pulled a couple of pillows from beneath her head as she sat up and then said, “Lay on the pillows on your stomach.”

With an uncertain look on her face, she turned over, Owyn helping her to get on her knees, leaning over the pillows. He stared down at the round globes of her bottom and smiled, rubbing the pale skin before slipping his fingers down and teasing her nub once again. Elsa groaned loudly at the feel of his fingers on her and pushed back against his hand, desperate for more. When she felt his pelvis press against her bottom, she wriggled against his hardness, making him laugh.

“Impatient lady, aren’t we?” he said, teasing her with the head of his erection.

Slowly, inch by aching inch, he pressed into her, holding her hips steady so that he could control the pace.

“Owyn, I swear…” she started, only to be cut off by his hard thrust into her body.

He reached around her body and held her firm globes in his hands, tweaking the nipples softly and making Elsa cry out. She bit down hard to avoid screaming as Owyn thrust deeply, each stroke of his erection deeper than before.

Her climax built, taking her higher and higher until she felt as if her feet would never touch the ground again. Owyn felt her body contract and she cried out, pressing her hips back against him, his own climax hitting him hard and with one last thrust, he rammed into her and came, his climax filling her with warmth.

Elsa climaxed so hard that she had to grab the bed for purchase so she wouldn’t slide to the side and off the pillows, taking both her and Owyn to the floor.

Her body was shaking when Owyn pulled out of her and slumped over limply to her side, resting his arm over his eyes. He cracked one eye open and looked at her, both her violet eyes wide and aware of him. He leaned up and kissed her, pulling the pillows out from under her hips and resting them back at the top of the bed.

With their desire abated, they crawled up to the pillows and slid underneath the covers, both tired and needing sleep after their arduous encounter.

With a kiss on the forehead, Owyn fell asleep with Elsa in his arms.

  Chapter Twelve

Owyn woke early and looked around, his eyes visibly caressing Elsa’s body. He could see the beginning of sun peeking through the curtain and knew his valet Angelo would be coming in soon to wake him. He hopped out of bed, almost rushing to the door to lock it, thus ensuring no one’s untimely arrival into his bedroom.

He only hoped that they would be able to keep Jade quiet.

“Elsa, my darling, you must get up before Jade finds out you’re gone,” he whispered, gently shaking her awake.

“We have time,” she murmured from beneath the pillows, “Jade knows not to wake me until you are already out of bed.”

“Until I am out of bed? Why?” he asked, curious now.

Elsa sighed and sat up, knowing that she would not get anymore sleep.

“I told her that to ensure I wouldn’t be the first in the dining room in the morning. I can truly be very, very early. I asked her to make sure I was not.”

Owyn stared at her from where he had sat on the bed.

“To make sure you were not first at breakfast?” he said, his lips forming a smile.

He leaned over and kissed her pink and pouty lips.

“You, Princess Elsa, are positively charming.”

Elsa giggled and leaned over and returned his kiss.

“You, my Prince Owyn, are very handsome.”

He leaned over and pulled her into his lap, excited now.

She put her arms around his neck and kissed him, sliding into a sitting position, their naked bodies intertwined. He leaned down and kissed her again, pulling her tightly to him.

A knock on the door halted their play, and Owyn sighed, giving her a quick kiss on the nose and standing up.

He went to the door and called out to the occupant on the other side when they knocked again.

“I’m almost there. Give me just a moment.”

He opened the door to find Angelo outside of it, holding something.

“What can I do for you, Angelo?” he asked.

Elsa heard Angelo reply, but she wasn’t able to make out the words from where she sat.

Patiently, she waited for Owyn to come back to the bed.

“No, that will be all, Angelo. When I need you, I will ring for you. Thank you, Angelo,” he said, closing and locking the door behind him.

He headed back to the bed and sat down, opening the paper he now held in his hand.

Elsa leaned over his shoulder and read the note as well, her concern rising.

“Someone has stolen a vial of medicine from the hospital in Elfyre Hollow,” he said.

“Why would someone do that though? What is there to be gained?” she asked, looking at him when he looked up from the note.

“I am not sure. Alastair said that he would like to see us right away in regards to this matter. His own man brought the missive to ensure its safe delivery. We should take a look at that note that we received from Angus before we go to Elfyre Hollow.”

He stood up and headed towards his dressing room.

/>   “You had better get your nightgown on and we can sneak you back to your room before Jade gets there.”

Elsa sighed, but knowing he was right, stood up and grabbed her nightgown off the floor, slipping it back over her head.

She sighed with happiness when she felt Owyn’s arms slide around her waist and his lips on her neck.

“If only we had the time,” he whispered, frustration tinging his voice.

“Well, My Lord, we do not. We have to get dressed and translate the note so we can get ready to go to Elfyre Hollow. I have to write my parents and let them know so that they will not be worried.”

With one last kiss, Owyn let her go but grabbed her hand, content with that for now as they snuck out of his room and down the hall to hers. With one last kiss, he left her in her room and headed back to his.

When he arrived back in the room, he rang for Angelo, sitting down on the bed and picking up the note from Alastair, now more concerned than ever.

If someone stole the medicine, what exactly were they going to do with it?

An hour later, both Elsa and Owyn were downstairs deciphering the rhyme.

“Say hello to the birds and the bees, high up in the old oak tree. Deep in the forest behind the Well, you will find her prison cell,” she said, setting the note down.

  “The word well is capitalized.”

He thought about that for a moment before saying, “The kitchen in Obsidian Ridge is deemed “The Well” so that is a good assumption.”

“Have you ever been there?” she asked.

  “Have I been where?”

  “To Obsidian Ridge?”

He shook his head. “I have never been there personally, but I know that Oryn has. He had done all his patrols for basic camp there. He said it was the darkest castle he’d ever seen before.”

“Well, they must have gone to the kitchens, right? They would have had to patrol the entire castle,” she said, standing from her chair and going to the door.

She called for Jade and when she arrived, Elsa asked her to find out where Oryn was. With a curtsy, the maid went on her way.

“Hopefully, Oryn can remember something of the layout and design of the castle. If the queen is being held in a dungeon near the Well, then we would know exactly where she was.”
